Other attractions close to Flamingo

Several churches: one is non-denominational (and in english) attended by many ex-patriots.

Golf courses within a half hour.

Tamarindo beach (half hour from Flamingo): great for wind surfing, restaurants, shops, and a tennis club (pros are available for lessons).

Coco beach (under an hour): is a lovely traditional fishing village with lots of little shops and restaurants.

Brasilito Beach (ten minutes from Flamingo): local Costa Ricans like this beach, the town soccer fields host men's soccer games on Sundays, and it has several good restaurants and a good grocery store.

Playa Grande (15 minutes from Flamingo): The beach were the leather back turtles come to nest(tours can be arranged). The area around Playa Grande also has several good restaurants.

Town of Guaitil: small Costa Rican village where you can experience pre-columbian pottery being made by the local families.

Liberia (one hour from Flamingo); Large Costa Rican city with a central park surrounded by many shops. Great place to experience a larger Costa Rican town and it's people going about their daily lives. It is a great place to practice your Spanish!! It has two very large grocery stores, and a newly built modern mall and movie theatre complex.
